Hardware Tutorials
Welcome to the page for the tutorials of the category "hardware"
Before you start, maybe some of you are wondering what "software" and "hardware" mean. I will explain it in two words. In the world of electronics, we have two main "parts", the software part and the hardware part.
The hardware is all about the "hardware" part, in this case on the Playstation 3, it concerns for example the motherboard, the player bleur-ray, the hard-drive etc ...
Perfect example, now to jailbreak a PS3 over version 3.55, we must install a flasher, so we call it a hardware change since we must install a flasher, so for that, dismantle the console, install the chip and reassemble the console. This part is more for the fools of the soldering iron, but rest assured, what we will do here is within the reach of many people, provided you have the equipment.

Now, the software.
Since the hardware is the part of everything that touches the hardware, we can easily conclude that the software part is the "software" part. So there, no disassembly of consoles, soldering iron etc.
Another example with the jailbreak of a PS3, once we have done the hardware modification (installation of the flasher), we have steps to make a once the flasher installed, and all that with a PC next to us, so we can say that we are in the software part of the jailbreak. This part is more accessible given that it does not require to have specific hardware, except USB key, memory card, but I assume that everyone at home.

I will give you some concrete examples so that you can understand:
CFW Installation: Software, we just need a USB stick, everything else is done via PC and PS3.
Installation of the Teensy2 ++: Hardware, to do that we have to disassemble the console, perform welding and reassemble everything, so there we are full in the hardware part.
Here we are on the page for the hardware tutorials, you will find on the left the list of different tutorials available, you just have to choose what you are looking for.
